The Holy Spirit Province of the Christian Brothers was established in 1967 covering the Order’s activities in the states of South Australia and Western Australia. Previously, it was known as the St Patrick’s Province of the Christian Brothers. The new Province was created due to the increasing work of the Christian Brothers and the need for better management. It was run out of Perth, Western Australia. In 2007, the Holy Spirit Province became part of the Christian Brothers Oceania Province.
In 1967, the St Patrick’s Province of the Christian Brothers was divided up. The Holy Spirit Province of the Christian Brothers governed the order’s activities in Western Australia and South Australia. The Christian Brothers ran several children’s institutions in Western Australia.
Another new province of the Christian Brothers established in 1967 was St Patrick’s Province (Victoria and Tasmania). This Province ran a number of children’s institutions in Victoria.
In 2007, all provinces in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea were brought together to form the Christian Brothers Oceania Province.
