Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand was established in 2008 as the formal framework for the mission of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. In 2014, Good Shepherd Youth & Family Service (Victoria) and Rosemount Good Shepherd Youth and Family Service (based in New South Wales) merged with Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand to become one unified organisation.
According to Kovesi, Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand was established in 2008 to bring together the aspirations of the Good Shepherd Sisters and of the broader Good Shepherd network.
Since 1981, the Good Shepherd Sisters had been involved in microfinance and the No Interest Loans Service (NILS). In 2012, the Sisters established Good Shepherd Microfinance to expand the NILS and offer other financial inclusion programs for people on low incomes.
In 2014, Good Shepherd Youth & Family Service and Rosemount Good Shepherd Youth & Family Service merged with Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand to become one unified organisation.
