Description: This is a photograph that was published in the Herald in October 1952, accompanying an article by Laurence Turner about conditions for girls at Royal Park Depot, the first in his series of articles about "Victoria's unwanted children". The caption reads "Below is the exercise yard in the delinquent girls' section of Royal Park. They used to climb over the wall and escape. But the barbed wire stops them now".
