The Freedom of Information Act 1992 required the government to make available to members of the community documents that the government held concerning their personal affairs to ensure that the information held was accurate, complete, up-to-date and not misleading. The full title of this act is “An Act to require information concerning documents held by government to be made available to members of the community, to enable members of the community to obtain access to documents held by government and to enable members of the community to ensure that documents held by government concerning their personal affairs are accurate, complete , up-to-date and not misleading, and for related purposes” (Act no. 42/1992). This act was repealed by the Right to Information Act 2009 (Act no. 13/2009) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Act no. 23/2009).
