Commonwealth Powers (Family Law - Children) Act 1990, Queensland

Details

This act with the full title “An Act to refer to the Commonwealth Parliament certain matters relating to children” (Act no.37/1990) acknowledged the authority of the Australian Commonwealth Government to apply legislation to the State of Queensland in relation to child custody, access to children, child maintenance payments, child adoption and other matters relating to child custody and support. Commonwealth legislation of this kind generally supports more consistent legislation, rules and regulations across Australia rather than different regulations existing in different states and territories.
