The Records of the Church Missionary Society of Australia, North Australia Committee (CMS) are held by the Northern Territory Archives Service and cover the period from 1907 to 198. These records primarily relate to the missionary work of the CMS in the Northern Territory. The collection also includes personal records of a number of CMS missionaries, and information relating to two Homes in Sydney; the Church Missionary Society Home for Half-Castes Mulgoa and Milleewa Home. These homes were for children evacuated from the Northern Territory, South Australia and Queensland. Some of the children were accompanied by their mothers.

Records

There are twenty-four listed series of records in this collection dated from 1907 to 1989. The series include general records relating to CMS’s activities within the Angurugu, Oenpelli, Roper River, Numbulwar, and Umbakumba communities, and the Church Missionary Society Home for Half-Castes Mulgoa and Milleewa Home. The collection also includes general theological books, publications, religious instruction and school syllabuses and information about training allowances.

The entries in each series are arranged in alphabetical order by the name of the creator or collector. The basic series information for each record series registered under each creator consists of series number with a prefix (which can be NTRS, E, F or O), the series title and date range.
