Case Study 7: Parramatta Training School for Girls was a public hearing of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, held in Sydney from February to March of 2014. It inquired into the experiences of former child residents at The Parramatta Girls’ Training School in Sydney, and The Institution for Girls in Hay, New South Wales. During the hearings evidence was heard from former residents of Parramatta Girls Training School and The Institution for Girls in Hay, as well as from representatives from the Department of Family and Community Services, and Juvenile Justice.
In October 2014, the Royal Commission subsequently published its findings in the Report of Case Study No. 7: Child sexual abuse at the Parramatta Training School for Girls and the Institution for Girls in Hay. The webpage for Case Study 7 published on the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse website includes the final report for Case Study 7, transcriptions of each day of the public hearing, exhibits and submissions related to the Case Study, and a list of witnesses who gave evidence during the Case Study.
