This series contains case files for children admitted to the Rockhampton Receiving Depot and St George’s Orphanage. These files were created to document the history of state children during their stay at the institution. The Case Files include admission and discharge details, information on parents, contracts for the hiring out of children, maintenance details, court and police documents, details of wages paid to children hired out to service, banking arrangements, and general correspondence. There are 363 files in this series. Files are titled with the name of the child/children. Information about children from the same family is usually found in the one file, however sometimes there are separate files for siblings.
