The Maintenance (Widowed Mothers) Act 1937 (No. 4497) amended Part III. Of the Maintenance Act 1928. It commenced on 4 March 1938, and was repealed by the Children’s Welfare Act 1954 (No. 5817) on 1 September 1955.

The Mental Hygiene (Mode of Citation) Act 1943 (No. 4963) altered ‘the Mode of Citation of the Lunacy Acts and to make certain consequential provisions’. It changed the name of the Lunacy Act 1928 to Mental Hygiene Act 1928.

The Venereal Diseases Act 1928 (No. 3798) came into operation on 18 December 1929. It consolidated the law relating to venereal diseases and repealed the Venereal Diseases Acts 1916 (No. 2858) and 1918 (No. 2994). It was repealed by the Venereal Diseases Act 1958 (No. 6408).
The Hospitals and Charities Act 1900 (No. 1683) amends the Hospitals and Charities Act 1890. It commenced on 17 October 1900; the Principal Act was repealed by the Hospitals and Charities Act 1915.

The Mental Hygiene Authority Act was ‘An Act to make provision with respect to the Constitution and Functions of a Mental Hygiene Authority, and for other purposes.’ It commenced on 1 February 1952. This Act amends the Mental Deficiency Act 1939.
The Lunacy Act 1928 (No. 3721) consolidated ‘the Law relating to the Insane’. It commenced on 18 December 1929 and was repealed by the Mental Hygiene Act 1958. The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Amending Act 1885 (No. 816) further amended the Act for Hospitals and Charitable Institutions 1864. The Amending Act commenced on 29 April 1886; the Principal Act was repealed by the Hospitals and Charities Act (No. 1099) in 1890.
