Records created about children in out of home care are incredibly important, particularly to those they were created about. From practical considerations, such as medical history, and the ability to apply for official documents such as a passport or drivers license, to the deeply personal – an understanding of identity, of family, and of broken memories.
With the release of the Danish short film ”The right to your own history” it is clear that the motivations to find records, and the experience of discovering what they contain, is common to people who were in care all over the world.
